From Busy Family Life to Luxe Comfort: Juanita’s New Curtains and Roman Blinds

It was our pleasure to collaborate with Juanita, whom you will know from Instagram as My Kilkenny Home. Juanita lives with her husband and two daughters in the beautiful home that they moved into two years ago. This is Juanita’s family's first self-build. Previously, they bought and renovated their home. Juanita and her husband both have demanding jobs, so they didn’t have enough time to plan their self-build themselves. They worked with an excellent building contractor and craftspeople to help them draw up the plans.

Juanita has always loved interior design and anything to do with houses. She took a lot of inspiration from interior magazines, and she comes from a creative family, so it has always been in her to have a flair for interiors. She wanted a light and airy vibe in some parts of the house and then a moody vibe in others, such as the sitting room.

Juanita also took to Pinterest for inspiration. Here, she was drawn to modern farmhouse-style homes and American-style homes with beautiful wooden beams, which is something she wanted to achieve in her home.

Her sitting room is where she likes to escape the hustle and bustle of family life. It is a cosy and relaxing space with moody interiors. Juanita chose made-to-measure curtains as she loved the look and feel of them. She chose the Como Greige fabric with the Milano Greige braid to complement this; she chose a brushed brass curtain pole which matches her interiors. Juanita was very impressed with the curtains and loved the luxurious finish the lining gave.

Juanita visited our store here in Naas and chose her samples and then brought them back to her home to see what suited her. She worked hard to get a cohesive look throughout her home, She has done this using the same flooring throughout the house. We also collaborated with her in her office. Juanita works from home in a very dependent job, so it was very important to her to create a relaxing and airy environment. For this room, she chose a made-to-measure Roman blind and also chose the fabric Como Greige and Milano Greige braid as it picks up the blue colour on the wall.

We also collaborated with her in her utility room. Here, she also chose a Roman blind, but this time in the Kingston Cream Grey Stripe fabric. She loves how this blind adds a crisp, clean look to the room as it is a very busy area of the house.

Juanita also chose a made-to-measure Roman blind for her guest room. For this blind, she chose the Como Natural fabric and Milano Natural braid.

Juanita’s top tip when planning interiors and paint colours for your home is to bring samples with you to every store you go to, as this will make it easier to bring everything together.
