Dressing a Bay Window with Digital Creator Sinéad De Butléir

Here at Material World, we were delighted to collaborate with the new homeowner, Digital Creator, Nurse and Mum-to-be Sinéad DeButléir. As Sinéad has recently moved into her new home she is in the process of decorating and making it her own. The room Sinéad wanted a window dressing for first is for the window in her sitting room. This window is quite large, letting in loads of light and has a beautiful view of a green area. As this window is the focal point in the room Sinéad wanted to make it a feature. With this in mind, Sinéad decided to add a window seat.

As the window seat was added we advised Sinéad that Roman Blinds would be best suited for this area. Roman Blinds are luxurious yet minimal and are perfect for areas such as this as they are practical and functional. Sinéad chose the fabric Marela Herringbone Two Tone Grey along with a matching braid. This fabric is a beautiful light grey shade which complements the interiors that Sinéad already has in her home.

As the window is a Bay Window we advised Sinéad to add corner blinds to finish off the look,  to block out  the light and to add a sense of privacy. This Bay window is the perfect example of how Roman Blinds can be adjusted to fix any window no matter what size or shade it may be. Here at Material World, our talented team of experts will advise you on the best solution for your window dressing.

Adding a window seat can be a fun and creative way to add style and functionality to your space. Here are some ideas for dressing a window with a window seat:

Add cushions and throw pillows: A window seat is the perfect place to sit and relax with a cup of coffee on your lunch break or a place to watch the world go by on a Sunday afternoon, so make it comfortable with a variety of cushions and throw pillows. Add Roman Blinds: As mentioned previously in this post Roman Blind are perfect for dressing a window with a window seat as they add privacy and style. Choose a fabric that complements the color scheme of the room and consider adding a braid to give the window a more finished look.

Add a window seat cushion: A cushion on top of the window seat can provide extra comfort and add visual interest. Choose a fabric that coordinates with your Roman Blinds or pillows for a cohesive look.

Incorporate storage: If you have a built-in window seat, consider adding storage underneath the seat. This can be a great place to store extra blankets, books, or other items.

Install shelving or a bookcase: If you have the space, consider adding shelving or a bookcase to the wall next to the window seat. This can provide additional storage and display space, as well as create a more cohesive design.

Remember to consider the overall style and function of the room when dressing a window with a window seat. With a little creativity and planning, you can create a beautiful and functional space that you will love spending time in.
