A Rustic-Modern Haven — Dressing Anna Marie’s Dormer Bungalow

We were delighted to collaborate with Anna Marie from baile_na_leice, the creative mind behind a beautifully crafted dormer bungalow that she and her family now call home. Built with ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) blocks, the house is as energy-efficient as it is charming — a perfect canvas for Anna Marie’s long-time passion for interior design.

From the very first scrapebox sketches from Instagram saves to late-night Pinterest scrolls, Anna Marie built out mood boards from researching Instagram, Pinterest and Interior design magazines,  that blended rustic textures with a modern twist.

The hero of the main bedroom is a statement wallpaper that brings depth and quiet drama to the space. To complement it without competing for attention, Anna Marie chose our Ikos Salt & Pepper fabric for her made-to-measure curtains. The result was a calming sanctuary that feels cohesive, timeless and, above all, restful.

Designing for little adventurers can be tricky: you need fun now and longevity later. Anna Marie opted for a Roman blind to open up the window height visually, then selected our Vintage Teal Stripe fabric.The narrow stripe pulls the soft green wall colour into the blind, while the vintage teal keeps things youthful but not juvenile.

From ordering swatches online to entering measurements, Anna Marie found the Material World process extremely easy. Once she’d confirmed her fabrics, our team handled the rest, delivering perfectly finished window treatments ready to install.

Anna Marie’s biggest piece of advice is to lean into neutral tones for lasting appeal. By selecting a timeless palette, your window treatments become a foundation on which you can layer new trends year after year.
